Delivery – A poem

I’ve been living my life, the way I was born
Right on time yet unexpected
In a rush,
A sense of urgency overwhelming

Living my life?!…
In a state of perpetual uneasiness, I can not seem to shake

A feeling of being delivered constantly, into the world of uncertainty
Like a baby, for what control does a baby have over it’s own birth?

The force of the womb,
contracting and relaxing
Pushing and pulling
Forcing forward and outwards
Nothing left to do but… cry out

But I’m not that baby and the labour throes are ever present
Pushing,
Pulling,
Forcing forwards…
Outwards…

…So I sigh…

Deep breaths replace crying out
And I’m delivered
Into a world of uncertainty
